We have a great book collection, both print books and ebooks. Even if you can't make it into the Library, you can still checkout books. Read on to learn more!

(Note: Ebooks are available 24/7 through the OneSearch library catalog on our home page and from our Articles & Databases page.)

Book Checkouts

If you would like to check out a print book in our collection, please contact the Library with the title and other information. As long as it is not marked for "in-library use only" (such as Reserve Textbooks and Reference books), we will find a way to connect you with the book. This may not be quick and it may mean mailing the book to you (mailed books include free return shipping). It is your responsibility to make sure it is returned in a timely manner (see Book Returns below). Books checked out during the Spring semester will be due at the end of the semester, which is May 27, 2021.

If you want to return books at a time when we are closed, the book return box outside of the LRC (Bldg 2) on the Weed campus is available.

We can provide a free, prepaid return mailing label if you let us know at checkout that you want one.

If neither of these options works for you, please contact us. We are very willing to work with you!

Books Checked Out During Spring 2020

If you still have a book checked out from the last Spring semester (2020), it can be returned in the book drop on campus or by mail. Please feel free to ask us about a prepaid return label; we may not be able to provide a prepaid label in this situation but will need to figure it out on a case-by-case basis.

We realize that last Spring was a very stressful time for most of us and we don't want to penalize you for circumstances out of your control--but we do want our books back! We also have a lot more leeway to reduce/waive fines if your books are returned. Returning books is always cheaper than paying replacement costs. Please contact us if you have questions or unusual circumstances: we would be happy to work with you.

Checking Your Library Account

You can see a list of all the items you have checked out and their due dates by logging into your library account.

From the Library's home page, click on Search the Library (left sidebar)
Click on Sign In link in the upper right corner
Sign in with your COS email address and password
The Sign In button should now say your name; click on your name
Choose Library Card or My Loans from the drop-down menu
